Quote of the Week

I plan to have a lovely day. Heck, I plan to have a lovely weekend! I hope y'all do, too!

Oh, Hey There.....

Remember me? Your long lost blogging hostess? I know, I know, I'm sorry for neglecting y'all. I have just been beyond busy; you know how it gets.

Since we last spoke I have been traveling for work, eating entirely too much and working. A lot of working. There is so much to learn! I got a new phone (HOORAY iPHONE 4S!), Warner and I have been trying to walk on the glorious sunny weekends we've been having, I've been getting manicures regularly (squeal!) and oh, I've been working a lot.

I leave for New Orleans in a few weeks (first time there! Can't wait!) and I've been forcing myself to get back on the diet bandwagon. I fell off for a bit, and have definitely seen the side effects from it. So, Lauren has graciously been monitoring my food intake with an iron first and I've been trying to exercise when I can. Who knew being a young professional would have such an effect on my eating habits! I was unprepared.

One of my dear college friends is in town today and we are getting together for dinner this evening. She is the first person from home I've seen since June. It's crazy to me how time flies and how little I actually make it back to California. I can't wait to see her, laugh and catch-up. I'm so glad she's here.

Have a lovely day friends!

Sometimes.....

I just need to take a break.....from running around, from feeling stressed, self-conscious, from wondering why things sometimes don't go my way, feeling lonely. Sometimes I just need to sit outside on the balcony of my hotel room in Orlando and watch the clouds roll in, and take a moment or two to be grateful for the little things.

Then have another cup of coffee, breathe and face the day.

Drat.

Let me tell you what it's like to be me right now:

BUSY AS A FREAKING BEE.

I'm sorry for not blogging. I'm traveling a lot in the next few weeks, but will be back in action soon!

In the meantime:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS HANDSOME DEVIL!

(He's two today.)

Bangin'

I've had the same bland hair style for the last two years. Bland and boring simply will not do in my life, especially when it comes to my hair, which I find I am very particular about. I've decided 2012 will be dedicated to positive change, so after much research, much deliberation and a few mini panic attacks I took the plunge and got myself some bangs.

What do you think??

Dog Friendly Sunday

It has been uncharacteristically warm this week in Atlanta. Before you get all crazy, this only means temps have been in the 60s (today it's going to be 68! Squeal!), which is a vast improvement over last year when we were snowed in for a week and the only thing keeping Tessa and I from killing each other were the hours we spent drooling over LEO DiCaprio and Mark Walhberg films. (The Departed was like killing two birds with one gorgeous, sexy stone) Such glorious winter weekends should not be wasted (try saying that five times fast. I did, I sounded like an idiot), so we went to Roswell, Georgia with the pups.

Roswell is an adorable little suburb of Atlanta about 15 minutes north of our apartment. It's also a dog-friendly city, which means our little four-legged friends are allowed to sit with us on restaurant patios. If I didn't have to work downtown, I would SO live in Roswell. It's pretty much like the perfect little suburb to raise a family and shop at a good farmer's market. And who can turn down fresh fruit and veggies? Also, Paula Deen's cousin has a bakery there, so you know I'm in. In fact, when I discovered this fine establishment was closed because it was Sunday (how rude), I insisted that Tessa find me a bakery. I am the god of cake.

We ate at Roux on Canton (because we had a coupon. It was am-a-zing) and the pups sat at our feet, begging for scraps. I don't really take Warner on outings like this because, well he's HUGE and is pure muscle, so in a crowded environment it can be hard to control him. He strangely behaved, until he decided that every dog walking past him was his arch enemy and would bark like it was his job. Then we walked a few blocks of downtown, window shopping and picking up our dog's poop. It was quite a lovely "faux winter" Sunday afternoon.

I also learned that Warner only weighs 40 pounds less than I do.

Which I find scary.
